About Idocrase

Idocrase, also known as Vesuvianite, is a calcium magnesium aluminium silicate mineral. It was first discovered near Mount Vesuvius in Italy, which is where the name Vesuvianite originated.

Gem-quality Idocrase is valued by collectors because attractive specimens are less commonly encountered than many traditional jewellery gemstones.

The gemstone is known for its range of natural colours and its interesting connection to mineral collecting as well as jewellery.
