This handmade Lapis Lazuli barrel bead has been individually crafted in our workshop in Wales using genuine natural Lapis Lazuli and finished with a solid 925 sterling silver core. Every gemstone is unique, meaning no two beads are ever identical. The bead shown in the photographs is the exact bead you will receive.

The rich royal blue colour of Lapis Lazuli has been admired for thousands of years. Tiny golden flecks of naturally occurring pyrite sparkle throughout the stone, creating the distinctive appearance that has made Lapis one of the world's most recognisable gemstones.

This bead is compatible with most European style charm bracelets including Pandora®, Trollbeads®, OHM®, Chamilia® and similar systems using approximately a 4.5mm core.

About Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli is one of the oldest known decorative gemstones, with a history stretching back over 6,000 years. It was prized by the ancient Egyptians, who used it in jewellery, carvings and ceremonial objects. During the Renaissance it was even ground into powder to create Ultramarine, one of the most valuable blue pigments ever produced.

Natural Lapis Lazuli is primarily composed of lazurite together with calcite and pyrite. The fine golden flecks visible within the stone are natural pyrite crystals and are considered a desirable characteristic rather than an imperfection. These natural inclusions ensure every bead has its own unique appearance.

Natural Gemstone

As this bead has been made from natural gemstone, slight variations in colour, pattern and mineral inclusions are completely normal. These characteristics are what make natural stone so appealing and guarantee that your bead is genuinely one of a kind.

This bead has been made with a sterling silver core designed to fit the majority of European style charm bracelets including Pandora®, Trollbeads®, OHM®, Chamilia®, Biagi® and many other compatible bracelet systems.

Caring for your Lapis Lazuli Bead

To keep your bead looking its best, avoid prolonged contact with perfumes, household chemicals and abrasive cleaners. Clean gently using a soft cloth and lukewarm water if required. Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time and can be restored using a quality silver polishing cloth.

Because Lapis Lazuli is a natural stone, it should not be cleaned using ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemical jewellery dips.
